A Day At L’Alizé Vacation Rental

Kayaking Roatan’s point from the South Shore

My kids and their friends made this video while staying at L’Alizé. The images depict L’Alizé’s rooms and exterior but primarily features  a Kayak trip they took from the private Keyhole beach,  near L’Alizé,  to West Bay Beach.  They snorkeled and jumped from the iron shore and the rope swing as they traveled to the West End.   Once on  West Bay Beach,  they called Edier, who picked them up along with the kayaks and brought them back to L’Alizé.  The drive takes a 4 minutes. The kayaking took a fun hour.   The goats in the video often graze near the second keyhole.

A Note of Caution

The prevailing currents drive from East to West and so facilitate going from the South Shore to West Bay. This trip took about an hour.  Traveling from West Bay to the South side of the island can take four times as long, due to the prevailing winds and currents.  Additionally, the South Shore has occasional rough seas, and these get worse in the afternoon.  So if you are planning such a trip,  choose a tranquil  day and make sure you are not out on the water after sunset.

How to set up a kayak trip

You can rent Kayaks by the hour on West Bay  Beach.   West Bay Beach  water is  usually calm which makes for a great first time experience.   If you are staying at L’Alize, ask Edier to get the Kayaks unlocked for you.  These are located on the Keyhole beach.  There are life jackets available too.
