Why Visit Roatan | Roatan, Honduras Rentals

If you’re planning a quick warm weather vacation to take you away from the depths of yet another ice cold winter, your choices are actually rather limited.  Many Europeans end up flying to Central or northern South America because their options for being able to enjoy a long swim in the ocean without donning a wetsuit are surprisingly few.  At least the flights are shorter for North Americans who want to take advantage of the warm weather in Mexico, the Caribbean or Central and South America.  But if you’re looking for the perfect combination of warm weather, white sand beaches and abundant ocean life as well as great food and a happening night life, you will want to visit Roatan.

What Is Roatan?

In a nutshell, Roatan is a small (48 miles long and 5 miles wide) island off the northern coast of Honduras in Central America.  Approximately 50,000 people live on the island with part of the population separated by a channel between the east and west sides.  The island lies along the southern edge of one of the largest reef systems in the world; second only to the Great Barrier Reef off the east coast of Australia.  The island maintains a year round average temperature between 28 and 31 degrees Celsius making it an ideal getaway for those living in colder climates.  As for attractions on the island, there are many.
